Junior professorship without tenure track in Building Information Modelling University Duisburg-Essen, Faculty of Engineering - Department of Building Science


The Faculty is seeking an exceptional candidate to represent this field in research and education. Prerequisite forthis position is focus on research in project processes digitization during the whole life cycle in the building sector. In addition, a holistic approach to the disciplines of architecture, civil engineering, electrical and engineering is to be integrated within the scope of the BIM method. The following priorities are to be given to the future field of activity with BIM methods:

 

 development of BIM methodology in project management

 management of information in the entire value-creation chain from the idea, planning, design and
engineering, construction and operation of construction and infrastructure buildings and facilities to their
demolition

 modeling, simulation and optimization of project and production processes

 

The junior professor will be expected to teach in the accredited bachelor and master degree courses of civil engineering.

 

Applicants are desired to have publications in refereed journals as well as experience in implementing externally funded projects.

The University of Duisburg-Essen attaches particular importance to the quality of teaching. Candidates will therefore be required to present their ideas and concepts with regard to teaching, also taking into account the profiles of the University of Duisburg-Essen and the Faculty of Engineering.

 

The hiring requirements for this position comply with Article 36 of the law on higher education in North-RhineWestphalia (Hochschulgesetz NRW).

 

In the first phase of the Junior Professorship four hours of teaching are obligatory, in the second phase five hours. If the prerequisites of civil servant status (Beamter/Beamtin) are satisfied the appointment is expected to be civil servant for the duration of three years. After a positive evaluation the appointment will be extended for an additional three years.
