The Department of Architecture at UC Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructors to teach courses in the following areas: History & Theory, Building Science, Structures, Construction, and Design & Social Factors. Screening of applicants begins immediately and will continue as needed. Applicants will be selected from this pool for two years; some appointments may begin as early as the 2016 spring semester. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of Architecture. Positions typically start at the beginning of the semester, and appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.


General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website.


Basic qualifications: Applicants must hold an advanced degree (minimally a Master’s degree or an equivalent degree) in field of expertise at time of application and be able to legally work in the United States. The Department is unable to arrange work permits for Lecturer positions.


Salary: to be commensurate with experience.
