Tenure Track Faculty Position in Pavement Engineering Technion Israel Institute of Technology

Call for Tenure Track Faculty Position in Pavement Engineering

The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Technion - Israel Institute of
Technology invites applications for a tenure track position in the area of Pavement Engineering.
The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering is committed to excellence in teaching and
interdisciplinary research aimed at providing the knowledge base, innovation, and human capital
needed to shape an efficient, safe, and sustainable infrastructure to support economic growth and
quality of life of the citizens.

The Faculty is looking for candidates with interest in pavement engineering and expertise in one
or more of the following areas:

• Mechanistic characterization of engineering materials, including constitutive models for
defining the behavior of materials in terms of elasticity, visco-elasticity, plasticity, and
visco-plasticity.

• Experimental laboratory methods to calibrate the above models and characterize the
above materials: constant strain rate loading, creep, relaxation, cyclic loading, and
fatigue.

• Fracture mechanics principles, including models for crack propagation to analyze crack
damage in asphaltic mixtures.

• Numerical methods such as finite elements to analyze non-linear mechanical problems of
structural engineering.

The position is open to all academic levels with priority to young applicants. Applicants
should hold a doctoral degree, have a basic knowledge of Hebrew, and have a demonstrated
leadership and commitment to teaching and research in the academic environment.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of the research

should send (a) detailed curriculum vitae; (b) a statement concerning research, teaching, and
professional interests; and (c) a list of at least four referees to:

Professor Oded Rabinovitch, Dean, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering,
Technion, Technion City, Haifa, 3200, Israel, cvoded@technion.ac.il

For further details, applicants can contact Assoc. Prof. Shlomo Bekhor, Head,
Department of Transportation and Geo-Information engineering, sbekhor@technion.ac.il
or Prof. Aviad Shapira, Head, Department of Structural Engineering and Construction
Management, avishap@technion.ac.il

The evaluation of the candidates will start on June 2017.
