The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) boasts comprehensive state-of-the-art facilities and a faculty comprising more than 130 professors, making it one of the largest mechanical engineering schools in the world. Faculty members are drawn from renowned universities worldwide, providing a wealth of collective expertise in traditional mechanical and aerospace engineering, and in specialities including manufacturing, mechatronics, innovative design, nanotechnology, and biomedical and computational applications.


Job Responsibilities:

Prospective candidates applying for this position will work on robotics application in areas spanning across industrial, medical and service robots. The candidate will work together with other teammates to deliver integrated research prototypes ready for practical application and commercialization.

The scope of work may include but not limited to:

  • Design mechanical and electronic system for robotics applications

  • Develop algorithms relating to motion control and planning for robotics applications

  • Process sensors data for visualisation and sensing of the environment

  • Program software to control the robotic system

  • Conduct testing and evaluation of the robots’ performance

  • Publish quality research articles to disseminate findings of study


Job Requirements:


Candidates should:

  • Hold a Ph.D. degree in in Robotics/ Mechatronics/ Control/ Computer Science, or other relevant disciplines who are motivated to carry out internationally leading research

  • Good hands-on experience in control system design, electromechanical development of automation, and/or embedded systems

  • Strong knowledge in one or more of the following topics: robotics and mechatronics, control design, applied machine learning, artificial intelligence and programming (C/ C++, ROS)

  • Publication track record on robotics application development

  • Three to four years of research experience in robotics

  • Project management experience
