INL is seeking a highly qualified, self-motivated Postdoctoral Researcher for a collaborative project in the area of organ-on-a-chip, whose main responsibility would be to fabricate microfluidic-based organ-on-a-chip systems with integrated sensing elements to mimic in vitroendothelial modelsto study tumor progression.


Job Requirements and Key Responsibilities

The candidate is expected to: (i) Develop microfabricated microfluidic systems based in silicon technology, photolithography, soft lithography, plastic moulding and/or CNC milling; and (ii) Produce 3D Micro-Engineered Tissues in the microfluidic chip;

The candidate is expected to participate in strategic decisions and planning of the project. The selected applicant will work in a cross-functional team, meaning that high adaptability to a multidisciplinary environment is needed.


Required Skills and Experience

-PhD inMicrofluidics or related technical fields, with at least 3 years of experience in microfabrication, microfluidics, and organ-on-a-chip systems;

- Experience intissue engineering and/or integrated biosensors will be positively valorised;

-Applicants are also expected to have high quality publications in international journals and to be competitive in obtaining external research funding;

-Applicants with international mobility experience will be highly evaluated.

  • Strong motivation to work both independently and as part of a team in an interdisciplinary environment, with the ability to pay close attention to detail and to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in the dissemination of results to the scientific community are expected.
  • Capable of establishing collaborative ties with distinguished academic groups and relevant industry partners.



English is the working language of INL. Therefore, excellent communication skills in English are required.
