The Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology at the
Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering seeks to fill the
Chair (W3) of Assembly Technology for Textile Products
from 1 October 2018.


Research activities are both theoretically and experimentally oriented, with several CAE
laboratories including particularly powerful software, and numerous other laboratories
equipped with modern assembly technology available on-site. The above mentioned areas
should be integrated into the research focuses of “Lightweight Construction in MultiMaterial
Design”, “Efficient Energy Technology” and “Product Development and
Production” of the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering. The successful candidate
has to give lectures on methods and machines of ready-to-wear technology, development
and construction of textile end products from flexible materials using CAE technology, as
well as on assembly of technical textiles including their utility value assessment. Relevant
teaching experience is expected. The duties include participation in academic


Comprehensive knowledge concerning the following subjects is required:

 CAE modeling and simulation of textile products made from flexible materials,

 design of production processes with the expected product characteristics considering the
properties and behaviour of textile materials and semi-finished products, and handling

 construction and modification of assembly machines or cutting and assembling
techniques for textile products respectively.


The position requires a person who represents the fields of product development of readyto-use
textile products or textile components of complex technical systems as well as their
production with technologies and machines of textile ready-to-wear technology or rather
cutting and assembling technology in research and teaching. This includes machine
construction and development in interaction with the special properties of textile materials
and semi-finished products as well as utility value assessment of these products regarding
their specific operating conditions. Applicants are expected to be internationally established
in these subject matters. Experience in the management of research projects and personnel
management skills are required. Relevant practical experience is of particular relevance for
covering industry-related research activities. The skills for conducting lectures in the English
language are required. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of §
58 of the Act Governing Academic Freedom in Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony
(Saxon Academic Freedom in Higher Education Act – SächsHSFG).
