The professorship in construction technology is a new professor at the Department of Engineering Sciences. The Department carries out top research and has a broad business with its ten research programs in building engineering, electricity learning, solid state electronics, solid state physics, industrial engineering, microsystem technology, nanotechnology and functional materials, signals and systems, applied materials science and applied mechanics. The department has its premises at the Ångström Laboratory, which offers a high-tech laboratory for both research and education.

 

Description of the subject area: Construction technology aims at designing and managing a good built environment while minimizing impact on the finite resources of the earth.

 

We are looking for someone with excellence in one of the following building engineering areas: innovation, building design, design, dimensioning, production and conversion, as well as operation and maintenance, taking into account good indoor and outdoor environment, sustainability and climate change.

 

The areas can range from buildings and buildings to entire cities and include aspects such as building engineering solutions, engineering systems and construction processes.

 

Assignments: Overall responsibility for research and postgraduate education in the field of construction technology, teaching and supervision in postgraduate education and primary and secondary education. Own research in the proprietor's specialty and planning of research projects. Information about research and development work and cooperation with the surrounding community. Management, administration and financial and human resources. Cooperation with other research groups within the institution and university is of great importance.

The applicant must have documented ability to teach in Swedish and / or English unless special reasons exist. The holder is expected to be able to teach Swedish in two years.

 

Assessment criteria: Upon the appointment of this professor, emphasis will be attached primarily to scientific and educational skills, with particular emphasis on scientific skill. A comparison of the assessment bases will, however, take place so that an applicant who is deemed to be pedagogically much more skilled than a scientifically more skilled candidate can be ranked before the latter. In assessing the scientific skill, particular attention will be paid to basic research and innovative application in construction technology, as well as the ability to establish, lead and develop a research team in the field.

 

Equal care will be given to the examination of the educational skill as the scientific skill. Educational skills relate to education and teaching qualification. Educational skills may have been achieved in the professional world through supervision, internship, mentoring programs, etc. In assessing the pedagogical skills, particular importance will be attached to educational quality, where extent, both breadth and depth, will be considered important. Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead and develop education and teaching, as well as the ability to research the teaching based on research in the subject, subject didactics and university education, will be considered important. 



Administrative skills: Administrative skills are important for the employment and will be given great importance. Administrative skills also include entrepreneurship. 



Management skills: Experience and appropriateness of supervisory tasks as well as experience of financial and personal responsibility will be given importance when the assignment entails assignments that require such competence. 



Collaborative skills: Collaborative skills are important for the employment and will be given great importance. Ability to interact with the surrounding community by informing about research and development work, carrying out projects with non-academic actors and attracting external research resources will be taken into account.
