W3 Professorship for Medical Engineering University of Heidelberg, Institute for Technical Informatics

At the Institute for Technical Informatics of the University of Heidelberg (ZITI) is a newly created

 

W3 professorship for medical engineering

 

to occupy.

 

The core competencies of the ZITI are the development and operation of specialized computer hardware as well as hardware software and firmware for the solution of demanding computing problems and data acquisition, the development of application-specific microchips (analog and digital) for digital communication and sensor technology as well as the fields of automation, robotics and biomechanics.

 

The research focus of the new professorship will be on the development of novel medical technology concepts and instruments in which the core competencies of the ZITI can be used profitably. For a practical application of the developments, cooperation with the two clinical faculties of the university and the DKFZ will be established, where many developments and applications of the latest technologies (eg PET / MRT, 7T, Radiotherapie, Proton- und Ionentherapie, Operationsrobotik, Prosthetik)

 

The professorship is to be located in the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy.

 

In the course of lectures, contributions are to be made to the Master's degree course "Technische Informatik" as well as to the bachelor's and master's degree courses in physics, especially in the field of medical physics.

 

Prerequisites for the application are a completed university degree as well as the Habilitation, the successfully evaluated Juniorprofessur or a comparable qualification according to § 47 para 2 Landeshochschulgesetz.
