Salary: $98,775 - $117,290 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

 

As part of the MSE 2025 strategy, the Melbourne School of Engineering wants to strengthen its expertise in transport, with a particular focus on transport engineering and technologies. The Department of Infrastructure Engineering will host the successful candidate in transport engineering who will expand the current faculty research activities in public transport or transport demand, activity based and land use modelling.



You will be expected to play a leading role in developing an exciting research program in public transport engineering or demand modelling, and to enhance interdisciplinary research within the School and University (Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning in particular) as well as external organisations.



You will build the school’s research expertise in an area of that is complimentary to the current strengths of the group in areas of infrastructure, geomatics, and environmental engineering within MSE. You will also be expected to strengthen relationships with owners and operators of major public transport infrastructure, management and operational agencies responsible for public transport services, and other relevant University groups and external research organisations and industry partners.



You will work as an academic in the School in the area of transport engineering and develop a significant presence in the teaching portfolio at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The responsibilities of the position will include the development and delivery of successful undergraduate and graduate teaching programs, and a significant contribution to the research activities of the Department, including supervision of postgraduate students. The successful candidate will join an internationally recognised group of academics in MSE. You will be expected to provide leadership in research, strategic planning, project development and planning, project management, and supervise research staff and postgraduate students. 



As part of the selection process, shortlisted candidates may be required to spend up to two days in the School. During this time, candidates will be expected to deliver a research seminar, interact with departmental staff, and outline a vision for their contribution to a Department (best aligned with their expertise) and the School more broadly.
