DESCRIPTION

 

A temporary Lecturer (Unit 18) is being sought by the Department of Chemical Engineering to teach ENGR 2 "Creativity and Entrepreneurship for Engineers." This is a 3 unit course taught in Fall, Winter, and Spring (at 33% time each quarter) with an anticipated enrollment of 25-30 students. This course is taught in conjunction with the Engineering Student Startup Center. The course explores the critical topics entrepreneurs need to know, including frameworks and strategies for getting started including: business model canvas, design thinking, and the lean startup method. Comparative analysis of successful and failed engineering startup companies will be required.

 

Candidates must have a Masters degree or higher in Engineering or Business, and experience in teaching business models related to engineering startup. The candidates will also have the opportunity to lead undergraduate student research projects and develop newer seminars/courses with broad appeal in areas that influence engineering business education. Salary and appointment level commensurate with experience. Actual salary is based on percentage of appointment: One course = 33% appointment. These positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
