The School of Engineering studies the frontline research in a broad field, from research in basic subjects such as physics and mathematics, to technical mechanics with applications in aeronautics and vehicle technology. The school operates and develops the Master of Science in Engineering, Physical Physics and Vehicle Technology, as well as the open program and several master programs.

The Department of Mathematics offers two-year postgraduate services at Brummer & Partners MathDataLab. Brummer & Partners MathDataLab is a research laboratory in mathematics and applied mathematics within the Department of Mathematics, which aims to create a focal point for mathematical research in complex data analysis. Brummer & Partners MathDataLab supports talented young researchers through attractive postdoctoral services and aims to stimulate research collaboration between faculty and local institutions. An additional goal is to inspire and facilitate the education of a new generation of mathematicians focused on basic understanding and implementation of new methods of data analysis.

 

The postdoctoral services are linked to projects within topology, numerical analysis, optimization and statistics. Applicants are asked to identify the project (s) they would like to work with or attach their own research plan.

The application must contain CV, research description, motivation for the desired (desired) project or own research plan, as well as two recommendation letters.

 

The appointments are time-limited, 1 + 1 year full-time positions as postdoctoral / researcher starting 1 July 2018 or by agreement.

 

qualifications

 

We are looking for a candidate who has completed his postgraduate studies in mathematics, applied mathematics, computer science or adjoining subject areas over the last three years. Doctoral degree is required and must have been received (or planned to be obtained) before the start date of the service. The applicant should have a strong background in mathematics areas relevant to one or more of the proposed research areas. The applicant must be highly motivated, able to work independently as well as in collaboration with the members of the research group, and have good communication skills. Skills in Swedish are no requirement.
