Become a part of world-leading research and education! The School of Electrical and Systems Engineering is one of ten schools at KTH and conducts research and education in electrical, systems and communications technology and space and fusion plasma physics. The field of electrical engineering and electronics at KTH is prominent and high in international ranking lists. The school is responsible for university and civil engineering education and several master programs with high search pressure and close links with our research areas. Together, 450 people work in an international environment at eight departments and a chancellor.

 

The Department of Network and Systems Engineering consists of about 20 teachers, researchers and doctoral students who contribute to a high professional standard of intensive work and quality results, as well as a pleasant and open environment. The staff has an international background and the working language is English. The department is internationally well-established, has many research collaborations with excellent partners all over the world and is involved in several European and national projects.

 

project Description

 

We are looking for PhD students at the Network Security Group within EE / NSE. We are looking for highly motivated people who are interested in research and postgraduate education in security and privacy. The position involves activities that lead to own research and result in specialist publications. The research areas may relate to any of the areas the NSS group works with.

 

The network security team designs and builds reliable networking systems. Our research covers a wide range of security, privacy and network issues. A number of our results have received great attention from the research community. Our teaching efforts lead to a new course area in security that we introduce to KTH.

 

Our work combines theoretical and experimental methods. Applicants with strong experimental, systemic or theoretical profiles and research interests in all aspects of security and integrity are welcome to apply.

 

qualifications

 

Applicants must hold or be in possession of a degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, information and communication technology or related fields. Furthermore, the applicant must have:

  • Strong academic qualifications, good knowledge of written and spoken English, and the ability to work well in a group.

  • Interested in several of the following: design, analysis, verification, implementation or empirical evaluation of secure networking systems.

  • Experience of several of the following: data security, mobile computing, networking, internet security, wireless communication, distributed algorithms and systems, programming languages, performance analysis, operating system, simulation technology and tools, software engineering, systems and network programming, applied cryptography, privacy retention or privacy enhancement, optimization, information theory .

  • Preparedness and willingness to contribute to our research and to work in an international research team.

  6. Representative publications / Technical reports: Up to two (2) documents, up to twelve (12) pages each. For longer documents (eg dissertations), attach a summary and a web link to the full text.

The employment is time-limited according to the regulations for doctoral employment in the Higher Education Ordinance (~ 5 years at 80% research and 20% institutional service which also involves teaching).
