THE HONG KONG POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY
The appointee will be required to (a) teach relevant undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, such as Rock Engineering, Advanced Rock Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Design, Advanced Geotechnical Design, and Design Project; (b) supervise final year projects and theses; (c) initiate, lead, and participate in research activities; and (d) undertake relevant administrative duties, including programme leadership, curriculum development, programme validation and accreditation, etc.
Applicants should (a) have a PhD degree in Rock Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent areas; (b) have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research; (c) have a good record of research, publications and scholarship; (d) be able to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills and have good interpersonal skills; and (e) possess research interest in, but not limited to, one or more of the following areas: (i) Rock Mechanics; (ii) Rock Engineering; (iii) Tunneling; (iv) Rock Caverns; (v) Laboratory and Physical Model Test Study on Rocks; (vi) Numerical Analysis; and (vii) Instrumentation. Preference will be given to those with a good undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and practical work experience in geotechnical design. Relevant professional qualifications and work experience as a civil engineer or geotechnical engineer will be an asset.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
