Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in urban big data analytics in the iLab at HKUrbanLab under the Department of Real Estate and Construction, to commence on January 1, 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter, for a period of three years.

The Department is seeking to make a series of cluster appointments with a view to strengthening an area of building information modelling (BIM) and urban big data, and integrating them into the Faculty’s featured research facility/cluster called iLab (

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in construction management or any related subjects and research experience in BIM and remote sensing. The appointee will be working on a series of significant research grants the Department has recently secured. These exciting projects include: (1) Hong Kong Research Grant Council (RGC) General Research Fund (GRF) project: The causal effects of green building certification on construction waste minimization: triangulating ‘big data’ with ‘thick data’; (2) Hong Kong RGC GRF project: Generation of semantically rich as-built Building Information Models (BIMs): A derivative-free optimization approach; and (3) HKU University Development Fund (UDF) projects: Urban big data strategies; Urban remote sensing; Integration of GIS, BIM, and IoTs; Smart construction objects; and big data and urban crimes. The appointee will be working under the supervision of Dr. Wilson W.S. Lu, the Director of iLab, and Associate Dean (Research) of the Faculty of Architecture.
