NOTE: Applicants must have been resident in an EU member state for 3 out of the last 5 years to be eligible for EU fees

 

The objective of this PhD project is to define the next-generation approaches to the use of remote monitoring for populations of birds of conservation concern. This PhD programme will develop acoustic techniques for the monitoring of bird species of conservation concern by leveraging recent developments in speech and language processing technologies. The PhD will develop appropriate approaches to acoustic data collection in the wild to ensure that acoustic surveys yield accurate bird population data and investigate audio signal analysis steps necessary to extract useful information from these long recordings.
