The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) provides leading international research and education, with innovation and sustainability as central themes. Research and education are closely interwoven and address societal challenges. The Faculty consists of the departments of Transport and Planning, Structural Engineering, Geoscience and Engineering, Water Management, Hydraulic Engineering, and Geoscience and Remote Sensing.


The Sanitary Engineering section provides research and education in all technical aspects of the urban water cycle. A large part of the research is conducted with the sectors involved and in cooperation with international research institutes. The sewerage chair has been supported since 2010 by external parties through the ‘Sewerage and Urban Drainage Knowledge Programme’ and EU funding for research projects. The chair currently employs ten PhD candidates within the themes of asset management, operational sewer management, and wastewater systems dynamics.

 

Job description


The objective of this PhD position is to further develop strategies for integrated RTC with a focus on system dynamics. The project builds on over 10 years of monitoring and modelling experience in the Eindhoven wastewater system.


This research is part of the knowledge programme in urban drainage, funded by the Dutch urban drainage sector and strongly supported by the waterboard De Dommel.

 

Requirements


You have a relevant MSc degree in sanitary engineering or a similar relevant field. Several years of work experience are an asset. You are ambitious, you take initiative, and you have good communication skills, which are needed for communicating with parties involved at all levels, from employees in the field to the city council. You speak fluent Dutch and we also expect a very good level of English.
