PhD in Ultrasound-Assisted Reactive Extrusion, Crystallisation and Solvent Extraction KU Leuven Process Engineering for Sustainable Systems Section Belgium

ULTRASOUND-ASSISTED REACTIVE EXTRUSION, CRYSTALLISATION AND SOLVENT EXTRACTION

The Process Engineering for Sustainable Systems (ProcESS) unit is a dynamic research group in the Department of Chemical Engineering at KU Leuven, consisting of 4 professors and ca. 40 highly motivated researchers. More information on ProCESS can be found on: cit.kuleuven.be/process.

Project

New projects are starting on the use of ultrasound in different applications to intensify chemical reactions, such as reactive extrusion, crystallisation and solvent extraction. Many of these applications are performed in continuous flow systems, which is the new challenge in the chemical industry with the aim to improve efficiency and safety. Several of these projects are funded by Horizon 2020 and/or are in collaboration with industry. The PhD projects fit into the overarching objective of the ProcESS unit to improve chemical processes by using alternative energy forms in continuous flow systems.

Profile

We seek enthusiastic young scientists with a solid background and MSc in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, chemistry, physics or the like.

Offer

We offer you a PhD position in a world-renowned research group where you will have the possibility to interact with many researchers working on a broad range of topics. Moreover, the projects fit into large consortia of European universities, research institutes and companies, so you will be exposed to the international community.
