A Research Associate position is available for an outstanding and ambitious biomedical engineer to undertake research in the field of medical device development in tendon repair. In particular the researcher will be utilising Computer Aided Design (CAD) and additive manufacture techniques to translate the existing intellectual property of two medical devices for tendon repair in Professor Cartmell’s research group. One product is a novel device that can be used to quickly retrieve tendons after injury ready for suturing. The second product is a new technique to repair tendons as a rapid and less tissue damaging alternative to suturing.

You should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in biomaterials, biomedical engineering or similar. Expertise in tendon biology, CAD, computational modelling, mechanical testing and additive manufacture techniques are essential. You should be capable of working under your own initiative and leading a small research team, so excellent communication and organisational skills are also required. You will be working closely with regulatory road mapping of the products and will be engaging with patients, clinicians and industry stakeholders of the project.
