Lecturer - Continuing Position


The School Mechatronic Systems Engineering at Simon Fraser University-Surrey invites applications for a continuing teaching position at the rank of Lecturer.


The successful candidate reports to the Director of School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering (MSE) and his/her primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


· teaching mainly undergraduate and some graduate courses (currently five courses per academic year) in the areas of Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineering, including Sensors and Actuators, Engineering Measurement and Data Analysis, System Modeling and Simulation, Machine Design, Mechatronic Design, Computational Methods, Statics and Strength of Materials, Dynamics, Robotics, and other multidisciplinary engineering foundation courses


· teaching and participating in the administration of the School’s flagship Professional Masters Program is expected


· developing new courses that complement the exising expertise in the School

· performing service to benefit the school, faculty, and the university

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority. The ideal candidate is expected to possess and demonstrate the following qualifications:

· Ph.D. in engineering preferably in Mechanical, or a closely related engineering discipline

· proven excellence in teaching engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels

· excellent communication skills

· eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia within one year of assuming the position
