Applications are invited for a fully funded 3 year postdoctoral research associate in the Manufacturing Group for the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering in The University of Manchester. This post is part of an international UK-China large collaborative project on Low carbon manufacturing. The aim and vision for the project is to develop new knowledge, understanding, process models and resource metrics, and industry case studies to optimise laser materials processing technologies for low carbon manufacturing. Case studies of interest include laser cleaning and welding and the application of these technologies in a circular economy and in advanced manufacture.

 

You will work closely with the other three collaborating universities, industrial partners and academic investigators to deliver project outcomes on time.

 

You should have proven ability to work independently, possess strong mathematical and data analysis skills, and be able to present results in an effective manner. You should be able to interact effectively with researchers from other disciplines and countries and industrial partners. Good written and oral communication skills are essential.

 

The post will be available for a period of 36 months.
