This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate with the ability and confidence to manage a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with Titan Products Ltd.   


The University of Manchester and Titan Products Ltd are looking to recruit an Embedded Systems Engineer to undertake this 36-month project, which has an overall aim of developing embedded wireless communication systems to support the commercialisation of a sector-leading family of wireless environmental sensors and control products for the commercial and home automation markets. 


The position will provide you with a unique opportunity to work with industry-leading experts in the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and building management system (BMS) sector. The KTP project will exploit the latest advances in low-power wireless technology to produce a range of wireless sensors and control systems with the potential for international impact on the HVAC and BMS sector. The role will offer a unique opportunity to engage with the Titan customer base and showcase developments at leading national and international trade shows. 


You will require a PhD Degree (or equivalent) (obtained or expecting to obtain) in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a related discipline. However, candidates holding a good MSc degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and have relevant industrial experience will also be considered. 


Practical experience in software development for embedded systems is essential, and you should have some knowledge of developing hardware for embedded systems. Experience in automation protocols and networks, and/or embedded wireless network technologies is desirable but not essential.


This post is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) award, a UK Government scheme intended to promote sustained and mutually beneficial relationships between universities and industry.  


Based at Titan Products Limited, you will work directly with supervisors from both the University (www.manchester.ac.uk) and Titan Products Ltd (www.titanproducts.com), and will use the facilities and resources of both organisations.
