Full Professor of Intermodal Transportation and Logistics Systems
TU Braunschweig Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technische Universität (TU) Braunschweig invites applications for a

W3 Full Professor in “Intermodal Transportation and Logistics Systems” (m/f/d)

The fields of activity include research into basic principles and the development of models for the description, simulation and optimization of intermodal transport systems within the framework of the research focus on mobility at TU Braunschweig. The focus is also on the description and modeling of interfaces between different modes of transport, especially at the air/road and air/rail interfaces. Thus the professorship is thematically very closely linked to the university's Cluster of Excellence for Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Aviation (SE²A).

The fields of activity of the professorship in research should lie in the following areas:

• Modeling and simulation of transport modes focusing on air/rail and air/road interfaces

• Model-based evaluation and optimization of methods and technologies in integrated transport systems

• New approaches to "Smart Mobility" and "Smart Logistics"

• Analyses for inter- and multimodal passenger transport

• Technical design of distribution and handling systems

The professorship shall take over the management and professional orientation of the Institute for Traffic Safety and Automation Engineering (iVA) of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. It is also expected that the professorship will be actively involved in the NFF (Automotive Research Centre Niedersachsen) and the CoE SE²A (Sustainable Energy Efficient Aviation).

In addition, the professorship shall also reflect corresponding methods and recent research results in the form of new teaching content and modules. In terms of teaching, the professorship is integrated into the Bachelor's and Master's programs of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, in particular the Master's programs in Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and Industrial Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.

We are looking for a scientist from universities, industry or research institutions with proven competence in at least two of the above-mentioned fields and background in engineering or information technology.
