Who we are looking for: An intelligent and enthusiastic person with a positive attitude and from a school or college technician background to join our busy laboratory team. You will be pivotal to ensuring our colleagues and course participants receive a professional and positive experience.


As part of our dedicated and professional laboratory team you will provide excellent customer service and ensure the practical areas (laboratories, greenhouse, lecture theatres and teaching rooms) are maintained in terms of resources and health and safety procedures.


The role includes identifying and procuring the equipment for the practical areas and to contribute to the development of a system to catalogue and store teaching and learning resources that will be found in the laboratory area in collaboration with staff working in the National STEM Learning Centre Resource Centre.


In addition you will support the team planning the curriculum at the National STEM Learning Centre, ensuring courses are fresh and innovative and responsive to the needs of science laboratory technicians and teachers of science.


Over time, delivering key parts of the technician courses at the National STEM Centre is an opportunity to share your expertise with others, and support will be given to help you develop this rewarding part of the role.


A good standard of IT will be required and the willingness to embrace new technologies will support your role. Your reliability, attention to detail and ability to prioritise will be the key to your success.

Remuneration and benefits

Salary £22-£25k dependent on experience.


This role is full time (37hrs per week) and enables access to the USS pension scheme, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays and a wide range of staff benefits including salary sacrifice, cycle to work scheme, health cash back plans, free eye tests and tax efficient pension advice vouchers.
