The School of Built Environment and Engineering is looking to recruit a high calibre Lecturer in Civil Engineering/Building Services Engineering (Degree Apprenticeships) who will be required to contribute to the delivery and continued development of a strong portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Civil Engineering and Building Services Engineering. The post holders will be expected to make a significant contribution to the academic support of student year groups through delivery of modules at all levels, and engaging in the development of high profile research and enterprise relationships / projects. The successful candidates will be lecturers or practitioners who can demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching and subject leadership in civil engineering and building services engineering at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The ability to offer expertise in developing and delivering design based modules is also desirable. Knowledge of delivering Degree Apprenticeship programmes would be desirable. This position will involve assisting in the administration and operation of the new Degree Apprenticeship programmes in both engineering discipline areas including organising and attending employer visits; assisting in End Point Assessment administration; and, assisting in liaison with apprentices, employers, mentors, Supervising Engineers, PSRB representatives, and other stakeholders involved in the Degree Apprenticeship tripartite agreements. We welcome applicants with a PhD, or other higher degree. Applications are also invited from those with a background in professional practice who can demonstrate extensive knowledge in the areas described, and/or an aptitude for teaching and research capability. Corporate membership, or eligibility for corporate membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers or a related engineering professional regulatory body is preferable. The Subject Area expects the successful applicants to add to and develop the delivery of the Civil Engineering and Building Services Engineering courses at all levels and enhance the reputation of the School's provision in this increasingly important profession.
