Description

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications of qualified full-time instructors to teach Computer Science courses at the undergraduate level. This is a renewable, non-tenure-track position and the selected candidate will hold the title of Lecturer. The position may range from 75% -100% time. The anticipated start date of the position is July 1, 2020. Initial appointments are made for one-year, subject to renewal.

In addition to lecturing responsibilities, general duties for the position includes holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus) and maintaining a course website.

The posting will remain open until June 30, 2020 to accommodate upcoming Department course needs. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue until the position is filled. The first review date will be April 13, 2020. The department is interested in applicants who could teach the following courses: CS 10, CS 61A, CS 61B, CS 70, CS 88, CS C8, CS C100, CS 160, CS 169, CS 170, CS W186, CS 188, CS 189, CS 195, CS 370, and CS 375. Basic qualifications:

The minimum qualification required to be considered an applicant for the position is a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree). Must be met by the time of application.

Additional qualifications:

The following additional qualifications are required by the start date of the job. Advanced degree or five years teaching and/or industry experience.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience teaching courses in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, particularly courses with 200+ students. Experience managing large course staffs.

Salary is based on degree, previous college-level teaching experience, and equity within the department; the minimum starting annual salary is approximately $85,788, based on a 100% time teaching load.
