What You Will Do

Applications are invited for a continuing (i.e. permanent and tenured) position in the Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level (equivalent to Assistant or Associate Professor in the US System). The level of appointment will depend on the successful candidate’s relevant experience.


The successful applicant will develop a strong research and teaching profile related to groundwater engineering. They will also be expected to make significant contributions to the teaching of related areas such as fluid mechanics, design, and/or mathematics. The successful applicant will develop a research programme of international standing in an area relevant to groundwater engineering. They will be strongly encouraged, and supported, to gain external funding for their research programme and to develop collaborations with other researchers both within the university and beyond.


The appointee will be expected to develop links with, and contribute to, the wider engineering profession at local, national and international levels.


Who You Are

Applicants must hold a relevant Ph.D. degree (for example in groundwater engineering, civil engineering or fluid mechanics) will have a commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and will utilise effective teaching methods that enable a wide range of learners to succeed. The appointee will also demonstrate experience in successfully supervising final year undergraduate research projects, Masters and Ph.D. students, an ability to collaborate with others both within the University and externally, and an interest in contributing to Departmental, College, and University activities.

UC offers programmes unique to New Zealand in Humanitarian and Natural Resources Engineering.
