Lectureship in Electrical Power Engineering

Applications are invited for a University Lectureship in Electrical Power Engineering. The successful candidate will join the Electrical Engineering Division of the Department of Engineering. Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Power Engineering or a related discipline and ideally with post-doctoral experience. The candidate will perform research that addresses the challenges of making electric power conversion and energy provision intelligent and efficient for transportation, renewable energy, telecoms and datacentres, and other important and emerging applications.

The candidate is expected to have research expertise and vision in one or more of the following areas:

  • lightweight, efficient and intelligent electric drives and power supplies
  • high frequency and high efficiency power electronic systems and circuits
  • power devices based on new materials such as wide bandgap semiconductors

It is anticipated that this research will be multidisciplinary with potential for collaboration with colleagues in the fields of control, machine intelligence, transportation infrastructure, sustainable cities and vehicle design. The Lectureship will be within the Multiscale Power and Energy Systems Research Theme in the Electrical Engineering Division in the Engineering Department. There will be significant opportunities for wider collaboration across the Department through its strategic research theme in Energy, Transport and Urban Infrastructure. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a strong externally funded, globally leading research program and to participate in the mission to deliver excellence in teaching to which the Electrical Engineering Division and the wider Engineering Department is committed.
