Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for an

Open Topic Tenure Track Professorship for Digital Transformation

(W1 / Assistant Professor)

The W1 professorship is to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of three years. Upon successful evaluation, the appointment will be extended for another three years. We seek to appoint top early career scholars who will develop outstanding expertise in the field. The professorships are financed with funds from a Federal and State programme for supporting young researchers at German universities. All professorships are intended to make significant contributions to the FAU key research priorities. This call for applications addresses outstanding early career scholars with the ambition of developing their own profiles and careers as part of the strategic development of a key priority in cooperation with renowned scholars at FAU (‘Open Topic Tenure Track’). The positions announced in this call for applications will strengthen research and teaching in the field ‘Digital Transformation‘. The successful candidates will be invited to play an active role in the FAU key research priority ‘Electronics, Analytics and Digital Transformation’.

The Faculty of Engineering invites applications for a W1 professorship (assistant professor) in the Department of Electrical Engineering (EEI). Responsibilities include representing the field of semiconductor devices in research and teaching. We would especially welcome applications from applicants with a scientific background in the field of development, technological realisation or characterisation of semiconductor devices for micro and nanoelectronics, power electronics or sensors. The successful applicant is expected to expand and deepen the existing research and teaching activities of this subject at FAU. We encourage collaboration with the Leistungszentrum Elektroniksysteme (LZE) and the shared semiconductor laboratory of FAU and Fraunhofer IISB.

Successful candidates demonstrate initial academic achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and pertinent teaching experience, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites.

FAU expects applicants to become actively involved in administering academic affairs and in developing strategic initiatives. FAU pursues a policy of intense student mentoring and therefore expects its teaching staff to be present during lecture periods.

FAU offers career development, mentoring and an attractive initial research budget. Based on international standards and transparent performance agreements, FAU ensures a fair tenure track evaluation process.

In its pursuit of academic excellence, FAU is committed to equality of opportunity and to a proactive and inclusive approach, which supports and encourages all under-represented groups, promotes an inclusive culture and values diversity.
