About the Opportunity
A Postdoctoral Research Fellow is required to contribute to innovative research developments within the scope of medical knowledge graph creation and annotation of medical imaging data, to enhance clinical decision support. The newly created UQ-Neusoft Joint Laboratory in Health Informatics aims to create and evaluate novel techniques for clinical data management and analysis in electronic health records. It is located within the Data Science research group in the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.

 

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

 

Our Ideal Candidate
Successful applicants should possess a PhD either in or progress to PhD in Computer Science (preferably in Machine Learning, Data Mining, Information Retrieval or Computer Vision). You should have demonstrated expert knowledge in empirical research methods, including instrument and experiment design, case study methodology, and qualitative data analysis. Ability to successfully work in a research team to deliver outputs to industry and outstanding effective communication and interpersonal skills is essential. Experience with working in a multidisciplinary research team and in collaborating with industry partners will be highly regarded.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

What We Can Offer
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 3 years at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $67,542 - $90,982p.a, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $79,025 - $106,449p.a.
