The Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, University of Helsinki invites applications for a

Postdoctoral Researcher in Deep Learning for GNSS Resilience

to work on developing groundbreaking deep learning methods for processing Global Navigation Satellite Signals (GNSS) data to ensure the continuity and resilience of location and timing services vital to a number of critical infrastructures.

The postdoctoral researcher will join the Spatiotemporal Data Analysis research group (https://www.helsinki.fi/en/researchgroups/spatiotemporal-data-analysis ) lead by Associate Professor Laura Ruotsalainen and consisting of 3 PhD students and 1 other Postdoc, with strong links to international computer science, sustainability and navigation societies.

The position is full-time and fixed-term for ca. 2 years. A contract extension beyond that is a possibility, albeit not guaranteed. The starting date is negotiable, preferably in February 2021.

Requirements

Applicants for the Postdoctoral Researcher position are expected to have a PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g. computer science, data science) and either

• the topic of the PhD research was GNSS and the applicant has experience in deep learning methods or
• the topic of the PhD was related to developing deep learning methods for processing radio signals

In addition, curiosity, inventiveness, excitement to new learning, ability for independent work, and strong motivation to turn research findings into academic papers are key characteristics.

Salary and benefits

The salary will be in accordance with the University salary system (for teaching and research personnel, starting level 5 for a Postdoctoral Researcher). In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal performance. The starting salary will be approximately 3400–3800 €/month.
