Professor /Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering

This position is in the area of Aerospace Engineering. The incumbent will be required to teach
undergraduate courses, conduct practicals, and carry out administrative duties within the
Discipline. S/he will also be required to conduct research and supervise undergraduate and
postgraduate research projects in the field of aerospace engineering, with an emphasis on
gas turbine engines, computational fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and wind tunnel testing.

 

The incumbent will report to the Academic Leader: Mechanical Engineering.

 

Minimum Requirements:
All applicants must have a BScEng degree in Mechanical Engineering. In addition, the
following apply to each of the levels indicated below.

 

Professor:

A PhD in an appropriate area Teaching experience in a tertiary institution
A recognized leader in the field of specialization with an extensive and current research
and publishing record in DoHET accredited journals and peer reviewed conference
proceedings
A successful post graduate supervision record at PhD and Masters level
A proven record of sourcing research funding
Management and leadership experience in an academic or research environment
Developed a network of research collaborations nationally and/or internationally
Experience in the design, analysis and testing of gas turbine engine systems
Wind tunnel testing experience

 

Associate Professor:
• A PhD in an appropriate area

Experience in either University teaching or relevant mentorship experience in an
industrial or research environment
A current record of research as evidenced by publications in DoHET accredited journals
and peer reviewed conference proceedings
Successful post graduate supervision or extensive mentorship in an industrial or research
environment

A proven record of sourcing research funding

Experience in the design, analysis and testing of gas turbine engine systems
Wind tunnel testing experience
