Professor of Construction

  • Provide leadership and direction in Construction Engineering and Management in New Zealand's top ranked University
  • Collaborate and engage meaningfully with industry, unitary authorities and academic communities
  • Live and work in New Zealand's largest, most cosmopolitan and culturally diverse city

We welcome interest from scholars who have developed research expertise in Construction Engineering and Management who wish to continue their career in New Zealand's leading Faculty of Engineering in Auckland, the country's largest and fastest growing city.

You will relish the opportunity to apply your expertise and influence to increasingly complex questions impacted by new technologies, environmental (including climate adaptation) and associated policy changes, and the resultant social and cultural evolution.

You will provide leadership and direction in Construction Engineering and Management with a particular focus on either infrastructure or emerging construction technologies, or both. You will demonstrate a strong grounding in fundamental and more traditional construction management; and will work effectively with experts in related topics such as Digital Technologies, Automation, Smart Infrastructure and Transport, Natural Hazards Planning and Recovery.

You will be enthusiastic about developing strategic relationships and collaborations with industry, local and central government; whilst further enhancing research, teaching and capacity-building in the largest Department in the Faculty of Engineering (approximately 40 academic staff, 800 undergraduates and over 150 postgraduate students). This is a continuing academic position to be appointed at full professor level.

The Department offers a diverse and active community for research at and above postgraduate level and we are proud of our strong international reputation for quality research outputs. We have collaborative links with research groups and industry within New Zealand and across the world.

The University of Auckland's ranking in the top 100 of the 2019 QS World Universities Ranking (ranking top in New Zealand in Civil and Structural Engineering and #38 in the world) confirms both its status as New Zealand's pre-eminent research-led university and its place amongst the top 1% of universities worldwide.
