Professorship of Distributed Control in Interconnected Systems
University of Oldenburg School of Computing Science, Business Administration, Economics and Law
Germany

The Department of Computing Science in the School of Computing Science, Business Administration, Economics and Law (School II) invites applications for a

Professorship (W2) (m/f/d) in Distributed Control in Interconnected Systems

as soon as possible.

We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding international track record in computer science, electrical engineering or control engineering whose research on control and optimization of cooperative, interconnected and distributed dynamic energy systems bridges the gap between computer science and electrical engineering (energy informatics). In addition to predictive control and decentralized optimization of subsystems, the professorship shall contribute to mastering the dynamics of a large number of coupled subsystems, taking into account socio-technical influence factors. Extensive research experience in one or more of the following areas is expected:

  • Control of complex systems with stochastic parameters and structures
  • Analysis of dynamic processes in coupled systems and methodical design and configuration of distributed control algorithms
  • Stochastic nonlinear model predictive (potentially heuristic) control
  • Model-based methods for design and analysis of multi-modal digitalized energy systems

The candidate is expected to have relevant teaching experience and is further expected to participate in teaching bachelor and master courses in computer science in German and English. It is expected that he/she will participate in the future Master's program "Digitalized Energy Systems".

Proven experience in the acquisition and execution of third-party funded projects is expected. An integration into the research agenda of the university is expected, in particular through contributions to the university's research center "Human-Cyber-Physical Systems: Safety, Acceptance, Social and Cultural Embeddedness". There are excellent opportunities for networking at the University of Oldenburg for basic and applied research. In addition, the research institute OFFIS offers excellent opportunities in application-oriented research. Candidates should be willing to actively participate in the university's self-administration.

The prerequisites of employment are specified in Section 25 NHG. To increase the proportion of women in science, equally qualified female candidates will be given preference. Applicants with disabilities will be preferentially considered in case of equal qualification. The position is suitable for part-time employment.

Applications (with CV, list of publications, certificates, information on previous teaching activities) and a concept for research and teaching within the professorship at Oldenburg are to be sent by 30.07.2020 preferably digitally (one single PDF-file) to: President of the University of Oldenburg, to the attention of Prof. Dr. Rudolf Schröder, Dean of the School of Computing Science, Business Administration, Economics and Law, 26111 Oldenburg (gsinocxmyf@uoz0jul.de ).
