TU Braunschweig Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technische Universität Braunschweig invites applications for

W3 Professorship in “Energy and Process Systems Engineering” (m/f/d)

The fields of activity shall cover research and teaching regarding investigation, complete description, simulation and optimization of energy and process systems. The focus of the research should be on energy systems for sustainable mobility (motor vehicles, aircrafts and trains):

  • Batteries
  • Electrochemical synthesis systems, especially for hydrogen production
  • Energy conversion systems, especially fuel cells.

In addition, the professorship will consider methods for the simulation, control and optimization of energy and process systems in research and teaching. The professor shall lead the “Institute of Energy and Process Systems Engineering” (INES) and shall actively participate in the research centre "Battery LabFactory Braunschweig" (BLB). It is also expected that the professor will contribute to the Cluster of Excellence "Sustainable Energy Efficient Aviation" (SE2A) with the topic of mobile energy storage. In terms of teaching, the professorship is integrated into the Bachelor's and Master's programs of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, in particular the Master's programs Bio- and Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering and Sustainable Energy Technology.

We are looking for a scientist from university, industry or research institutions with proven competence in the modelling and simulation of energy and process systems in at least one of the above fields, especially preferred for current and future battery generations. Relevant experience in the acquisition and implementation of basic and application-oriented third-party funded projects and industrial projects as well as good communication skills and goal-oriented work are expected.

Technische Universität Braunschweig is member of the Science Alliance Braunschweig-Hannover.
