A position exists for a Research Assistant/Associate at the University of Cambridge Department of Engineering to work in the area of control of microgrids.

The post holder will be located in Central Cambridge Cambridgeshire, UK.

The aim of the project is to do fundamental research associated with the modelling, theoretical analysis, simulation and control of AC and DC microgrids.

The key responsibilities and duties are to carry out theoretical research in this area, write research publications, attend conferences, and also contribute to the ongoing development of a corresponding experimental facility.

Applicants are expected to have, or be close to obtaining, a PhD in Engineering, with expertise in control theory, power system dynamics, power electronics and prior experience in the analysis of AC and DC grids and inverter based microgrids.

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.

Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: £26,715 - £30,942; Research Associate: £32,816 - £40,322

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 July 2021 in the first instance.
