The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida invites applications for a 12-month academic, non-tenure track, full-time faculty positions at the rank of Research Assistant Scientist the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in Professor Michele V. Manuel’s Group.

Responsibilities of this position include the study of a range of materials from lightweight alloys, shape memory alloys, self-healing metals, to radiation effects on materials using alloy design techniques.  Highly motivated individuals are sought in the development of advanced light metals, specifically aluminum and magnesium alloys, through the use of thermodynamic and kinetic database development. Additionally, the candidate is expected to give conference talks, prepare manuscripts and reports, participate in meetings, and play a major role in the preparation of grants.  They are also expected to assist in managing and supervising both graduate and undergraduate students.

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is currently implementing a major expansion of faculty and state-of-the-art research and education facilities. Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Materials Science & Engineering with preferred prior experience in thermodynamic and kinetic database development and assessment.  In addition, it is expected that the research scientist will be highly motivated and can work independently, as well as part of highly diverse research group.  The candidate should have a solid publication history and strong verbal and written communications skills in English.
