University of Cambridge
United Kingdom

A Research Assistant/Associate position is available immediately to develop 2D materials-based electrodes for sodium ion batteries. The project, which is funded by the Faraday Institution, will involve fabrication of metallic 2D materials electrode materials, characterization of their properties, sodium ion storage and transport.

Applicants must have expert knowledge of sodium-ion battery technologies, fabrication of 2D materials-based electrodes, electrochemical measurements using cyclic voltammetry and impedance measurement systems. The experimental work to be undertaken will be: synthesis of 2D materials by chemical exfoliation, characterization using spectroscopic and microscopy techniques, fabrication of sodium ion battery cells, measurement of electrocatalytic properties and battery cell performance. Applicants should have or be about to obtain a PhD in a relevant subject.

The successful candidate will work in the 2D Materials and Devices Group under the supervision of Professor Manish Chhowalla.

The successful candidate will be expected to write papers, attend meetings and liaise with the rest of the research group.
