Description

 

The Faculty of Engineering is looking for a Research Associate in the areas of polyolefin reaction engineering, to join the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering.

The position carries the following major roles and responsibilities under the direction of Principal Investigator (PI), Professor Joao Soares.

 

Responsibilities


Leading contract research work on polyolefin reaction engineering projects
Communicating research progresses with the supervisor and industrial partners
Writing technical reports, scientific articles, and conference presentations


Qualifications


PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, with specialization of the use of meallocene catalysts for the polymerization of olefins
At least 5 years of industrial experience
Knowledge on olefin polymerization techniques and polyolefin characterization
Knowledge on mathematical modelling of chemical engineering processes
Experience with polymer characterization via FTIR,NRM, SEM, TEM, XRD, DSC, and GPC
Experience with statistical design of experiments and model parameter estimation
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Excellent organizational skills
In accordance with the Trust/Research Academic Staff Agreement, this position has an approximate appointment of two years with the possibility of extension and offers a comprehensive benefits package found at Faculty & Staff Benefits with an annual salary range of $58,210 - $80,050.
