Funded by EPSRC through their exciting challenge call on creative circular economy approaches to eliminate plastic waste, we are seeking a dynamic and creative individual to work on this 2 year project. The candidate will explore bio-inspired design systems to find new potential solutions to reducing waste in plastic products. This part of the project builds on the exciting technology being developed by the team.

The successful candidate must have:


• Have or be about to obtain a relevant PhD in Engineering, science or related discipline.

• 2:1 or higher degree in Engineering or relevant science

• least 3 years’ relevant research experience including demonstrable experience in:

o Software development


o Design methods

• Ability to contribute to broader management and administrative processes.

• Contribute to the School’s outreach programme by links with industry, community groups etc.


Salary scale:   £33,199 - £39,610 per annum (potential to progress to £43,266 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
