The Opportunity

In the newly formed Centre, we aim to create a workforce that is expert in developing, applying and interrogating artificial intelligence technologies in data-intensive medical contexts by facilitating the next generation of data-driven and machine learning-based medical technologies.

 

You will contribute to bringing medical technology into a new era of data-driven medical devices and applications. The work completed in the Centre will result in the development of capabilities in the core technologies of machine learning and the practical application of cognitive computing in health. Our group works in many different areas and collaborates with a wide variety of industry partners, driving research impact for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.

 

We’ve already been joined by some of the best minds and we’re now inviting talented Postdoctoral Research Fellows that have applied experience in the following:

  • Natural Language Processing
  • Information Retrieval, or
  • Machine Learning, with experience with deep learning

 

What you’ll need

  • A PhD completed within five years prior to appointment.
  • Excellent programming skills.
  • Background in natural language processing, health informatics, or bioinformatics.
  • Experience with information extraction methods and domain adaptation is highly desirable.
  • Outstanding communication skills to publish your findings in top quality journals, and to a broader audience.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Within the Natural Language Processing Stream of the Centre, you will be conducting top quality research in information extraction and retrieval from clinical literature.
  • You will be designing and implementing state-of-the-art algorithms to identify guidelines relevant to clinical decision making, and to support information extraction of key elements of publications to support evidence-based medicine.
