About This Opportunity 

The Senior Research Project Officer will assist in development, management, and execution of projects across Premium Food and Beverages (PreFAB) program, reviewing actions against delivery milestones for PreFAB projects, assisting managing delivery and editing of reports and publications from PreFAB researchers, and in managing interactions with UniQuest for IP development.  The role will support development of industry forums and cluster meetings, assist in the coordination of activities across PreFAB including seminars and team/project meetings, and provide general administrative assistance to program leads, including management of travel, meetings, and budget.  They will assist in the coordination of the Research & Development Technical Team (RDTT) and other researchers within PreFAB to assist the program delivers against its targets.

 

Key responsibilities will include: 

 

Research Project Coordination

  • Coordinates aspects of the research project cycle, including planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation to support the successful completion of projects.

  • Utilises research project management programs/applications/software.

  • Provides research project and administrative support, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones and deliverables, as well as stakeholder engagement.

  • Assists with implementing research project plans, including collating documents and records regarding relevant issues to ensure projects comply with agreed research methodologies.

 

Technical/Scientific Research

  • Provides technical research advice on appropriate methods, equipment, quality assurance procedures, risk assessment and waste management.

 

Research and administrative support

  • Coordinates research documentation, including ethics and funding applications.

  • Prepares reports, graphs, figures and presentations on research outcomes at different stages of the research cycle.

  • Assist researchers prepare and write scientific and technical reports/papers/presentations, including proof reading, editing and guidance.

  • Provides administrative expertise supporting the PreFAB Program Leader including where necessary diary management and scheduling, and planning and implementing high-quality administrative systems.

  • Supports and coordinates activities and communication of PreFAB project outcomes with FaBA Directorate as required for Trailblazer promotion and reporting to government.

 

This is a full-time (100% FTE) or part-time (80% FTE), fixed-term position for up to 2.5 – 3 years depending on FTE.

 

At HEW level 6, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $84,871.95 - $91,158.90, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $99,300.18 - $106,655.91 annually. 

 

About You

  • Completion of a relevant degree in Sciences or Engineering with subsequent experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in project management/administration.

  • Demonstrated research project-relevant knowledge and skills with expertise in a wide range of specialist and general research techniques including writing and editing of scientific reports, papers and proposals.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and monitor budgets and interpret financial reports.

  • Well-developed problem-solving skills, with an ability to forward plan, prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and work with a high level of adaptability, both independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to produce clear, succinct documentation and the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a research environment.
