Position Description


The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Calgary invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach the following course in the area of Sustainable Communities during the 2018 Winter Session, January 8, 2018 to April 30, 2018:

  • ENCI 502 - Civil Engineering Aspects of Sustainable Communities

    Lec 01 Monday and Wednesday 08:00-09:15

    Lab 01 Monday 09:30-10:30


The successful candidate will be expected to teach this undergraduate-level Engineering course. It is preferred that the candidate has earned a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and must have a demonstrated background in the subject matter related to this course. Applicants must be registered as Professional Engineers with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), or with the equivalent association in another Canadian province.


Definition of sustainability; global urbanization; emissions from transportation systems; economics of urban development from a civil infrastructure point of view, water/wastewater, land use/transportation; public transportation; travel demand management for sustainability; construction industry - energy use and emissions.
