Located in the heart of Old Québec City, a fortified complex listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Université Laval (UL) School of Architecture hosts approximately 500 local and international students in five programs across three levels of study. Job Description

The desired candidate has an educational background in People-Environment Studies and Cultural Studies. Users, local communities and decision-makers occupy a central place in the candidate's research, design and collaboration activities with the relevant parties. The candidate will teach classes and workshops associated with these fields of study and research, mentor graduate students and help update programs. He or she will participate in academic life as well as the smooth functioning and promotion of the School.




  • Teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in their field and in related fields
  • Research or research/creation and publishing in the field
  • Participate in educational and administrative activities of UL's School of Architecture
  • Participate in university-related external activities that contribute to the vitality of the School of Architecture and the University as well as the development of partnerships with relevant parties

Selection criterias


  • PhD obtained or in progress (exceptionally, a Canadian applicant with a profile equivalent to the requirements of a PhD may be considered)
  • Excellent command of French or a commitment to quickly achieve the level of fluency required for the position
  • Peer-recognized excellence in the field of people-environment relations or an intercultural approach to the architecture project (awards, publications, scholarships, grants, etc.)
  • Experience teaching at the university level in applicant's field or in a related field
  • Ability to obtain financing for research development

Hiring and treatment


Salary according to the current collective agreement.


  • Regular full-time position
  • Processing as per the collective agreement in force at Université Laval
