INL is seeking a highly-qualified, self-motivated Research Engineer to reinforce the activities concerning Spintronics.
Job Requirements & Key Responsibilities

 As a Spintronics Process Characterisation Engineer you will take on a key role within the following responsibilities:
  • Characterize bulk materials used in the fabrication of MTJ stacks (CIPT characterization of MTJ stacks, VSM characterization of MTJ stacks and simpler magnetic stacks) and electrically characterize at wafer level MTJ devices micro and nanofabricated across 200mm wafers (TMR, RxA, transfer curves, IV traces, thermal stability, etc…);
  • Improve the existing data collection procedure ensuring that key performance indicators are collected, displayed (in a comprehensive manner that allows a continuous monitoring and  improvement of the micro and nanofabrication process), and stored. A statistical treatment of the data collected on large ensembles of devices must be performed;
  • Analyse the collected data to correlate key indicators with structural properties and process options;
  • Participate on the ongoing effort to improve the automatic measurement of MTJ devices at wafer level, namely by introducing hardware and software improvements in the existing setup aiming at an increase of the throughput of the automatic measurement platform.  INL is currently aiming at increasing the data collection rate up to 3 full-loop transfer curves per second at wafer level.
Job Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:
  • A degree in Physics, Physical Engineering, Materials Science, Electronics, or other relevant subject is required;
  • Previous hands-on experience in the creation and operation of data acquisition setups is desirable;
  • Knowledge of at least one scripting language is desirable, with a preference for Net Visual Basic;
  • Knowledge of MATHLAB, Mathematica, COMSOL and/or micromagnetic simulation tools is desirable.

  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal skills and clearly demonstrated communication skills (written and oral);
  • Team-work spirit; 
  • “Hands-on” approach together with a high commitment in respecting working deadlines;
  • Highly organised and dynamic.
  • English is the working language of INL. Upper advance level in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of another language is an advantage.
