Our profile

The E-Mobility Components Chair of Production Engineering stands for pioneering research and innovation in the field of electromobility. In the seven research areas Battery Production, Battery Engineering, Electric Powertrain, Automotive Assembly, Body Shop, Plastic Components and Autonomous Systems, the production processes of the electric vehicle and its components are being further developed. Application-oriented research projects are supplemented by numerous industrial cooperations.

- Technically-oriented university degree (master or equivalent) completed with above-average success: mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or similar 
- Specialization in the field of plastics technology, production technology, design engineering or similar desired 
- Experience in the field of plastic-based additive manufacturing technologies desired 
- High degree of independence, commitment, initiative and resilience 
- Very good analytical and conceptual skills and a structured way of working 
- Strong team orientation and communication skills 
- Safe command of German and English 
- interest in electric mobility / electric vehicle production


Your tasks

They become part of a highly motivated team and work together with our industrial partners on new solutions for plastic-based additive manufacturing technologies, such as FDM, PolyJet or laser sintering. Their solutions are used in a variety of applications for electric vehicle production at the vehicle or component level. 

Their tasks include design, construction and engineering, as well as the preparation, execution and evaluation of tests at the machine level. An exciting field, for example, is the design, manufacture and testing of tools produced by additive manufacturing processes, eg for injection molding or thermoforming. You are in constant communication with our industrial partners.

Your tasks and activities include: 

- Design-appropriate design of additive manufacturing components and tools 
- Investigation of additive manufacturing technologies and new materials for additive manufacturing processes 
- Development of ideas and solutions for the future production of electric vehicles 
- Tool making 
- Design and engineering of electromobility solutions 
- Participation in innovative developments in the framework of research and industry projects 
- Acquisition of industrial and university continuing education and teaching activities 
- Communication with customers, partners and suppliers

Recruitment is in the employment relationship. 

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and limited to initially 2 years. An extension of 3 years is planned. 

This is a full time position. 

A doctorate exists. 

The place is rated with EG 13 TV-L.
