Director, Vaasa Energy Business Innovation Centre (VEBIC) University of Vaasa Finland

The University of Vaasa is taking bold steps forward as a future-oriented research university with strong societal impact. Excellence in research and education are our corner stones, combined with close interaction with business ecosystems.

The University of Vaasa is investing EUR 10 million into its academic units and new research platforms. We are hiring a director for Vaasa Energy Business Innovation Centre (VEBIC), our unique and interdisciplinary research platform.

VEBIC capitalizes on the University’s expertise in all of its focus areas: business, technology and innovations, communications studies and public administration. As an open research platform, VEBIC will benefit from the partnerships with businesses, other research performers and government agencies. Its research will focus on smart grids, combustion engines and fuels, energy-related business and energy transition-related innovations that are cutting across the society on individual, organisational and society levels.

We are seeking an innovative and experienced leader for the new VEBIC research platform. You will play a key role as an inspiring leader and an active developer of our research project portfolio. A good track record of winning externally funded projects from the EU, Academy of Finland and Business Finland (former Tekes) is a great asset. We are looking for an inspiring person who is capable of initiating and leading cooperation within the university as well as with external research and industrial partners.

As the director, you will be responsible for organizing, coordinating and developing the activities and resources of the research platform in accordance with the University of Vaasa's strategy. We offer you an attractive position in a dynamic research environment. As a leader of the new platform, you will organise our energy transition-related research. The position offers you an opportunity to establish a research group and an opportunity to work within the largest energy technology cluster in the Nordic countries.
