Doctoral candidate on autonomous robotic instruments for biomedical applications

We are looking for a talented doctoral student to develop and apply an autonomous robotic instrument for manipulation and targeted delivery of magnetic particles.  The aim is to develop materials and methods for autonomous manipulation and delivery of magnetic particles for applications, e.g. toxicology study. The research can be built upon the basis of the localized electromagnetic manipulator [https://doi.org/10.1002/admt.201700177] and other similar/different instruments in the lab, or new developed tools. The potential doctoral student will work in a highly international and multidisciplinary environment, including collaboration with biomedical researchers in other universities.

 

Our target is that you will acquire the doctoral degree in four years. The position is immediately available. The salary is based on the university salary scheme. The contract includes occupational health benefits and Finland has a comprehensive social security system.

 

Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation is a part of Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering. Requirements and details

 

As a successful applicant, you should be highly motivated in experimental research and having a background in one or several of the following fields: biomedical engineering, precision instruments, measurement technology, materials and characterization, mechatronics, automation, microsystems, microrobotics, or related fields. The applicant should possess skills in mechatronics design. The applicant is expected to be innovative, thinking out-of-box, multi-disciplinary, and hands-on. We prioritize applicants with experiences in biochemistry, biomaterials, microrobotics, and micromanipulation. Experiences in microfluidics, microfabrication, and computer science will also be appreciated.

 

You have a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. High average grade as well as excellent grades. In this position you will apply the study right for doctoral studies in Aalto University.
