Compensation:

  • Assistant Professor: $96,000 – $114,000

  • Associate Professor: $115,000 – $156,000
    (Start-up package and salary adjusted based on qualifications)


Areas of Interest

Candidates with expertise in any of the following are encouraged:

  • Mine Ventilation: Network analysis and system design

  • Surface Mining: Operations and design of surface mining systems

  • Underground Mining: Methods selection, design, and development

  • Rock Mechanics: Physical properties of rock, fundamentals of rock mass

  • Geostatistical Resources & Reserve Estimation: For mine planning and valuation

  • Mine Management & Mineral Economics

Candidates whose work bridges multiple subfields, integrates theoretical and practical approaches, or connects with industry are strongly encouraged.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses

  • Build and maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program

  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students across Mining and Earth science programs

  • Contribute to institutional and professional service


Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Mining Engineering or closely related field by the start of appointment

  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, teaching, and mentorship

  • Prior industry experience desirable

  • Evidence of interdisciplinary collaboration

For Associate Professor candidates:

  • Established, funded, impactful research program with clear potential for continuance


Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry and management experience to enhance student learning and research relevance

  • Focus on research addressing industry and professional needs
