Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering
Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref.:528840), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers degree programmes at all levels and has a highly vibrant research environment covering a wide range of disciplines. We currently employ about 35 full-time faculty members and have well-equipped teaching and research facilities and support. Frontier research efforts are promoted and conducted in strategic areas related to this post, including but not limited to healthcare technology, bio-inspiration design, medical devices, and biomimetic robots. Applicant should possess a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related engineering field with an excellent research record. Applicants with commitment to collaborative and interdisciplinary research, in areas including but not limited to biomaterials and regenerative medicine, cell niche engineering, neural engineering, mechanobiology, biophysics, bio-inspired or bio-mimicking devices and algorithms; or advanced technologies such as those for advanced bio-manufacturing, diagnostics and advanced therapeutics, in relation to these areas, will be considered. The appointee will also be responsible for delivering quality teaching in relevant subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in addition to the engagement in knowledge transfer activities and provision of administrative service to the University/Faculty/Department.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
