The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking candidates for a tenure-track and/or tenured position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level(s) to meet the growing needs of our research-focused institution and our undergraduate and graduate programs. Applications are invited from candidates with expertise in the diverse areas of aerospace and control systems. We focus on the excellence, originality, and promise of the candidate's work as evidenced by the impact and quality of their scientific contributions. The successful candidate will be joining a vibrant, multi-disciplinary community of researchers and educators. They must demonstrate the ability to develop a viable and productive research program, an interest and aptitude in teaching a broad selection of undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses and supervising graduate students, and a commitment to be an active citizen within the university, the engineering profession, and the broader community.




This call for applications is intended to expand our capabilities in the area of aerospace and controls. Candidates with expertise in flight control and dynamics, propulsion, aircraft design, UAV's and drones, rovers, orbital mechanics, advanced structural materials, flight simulation and training, satellite design, aerodynamics, feedback control, sensors and control systems, robotics, electronic systems and mechatronics, autonomous systems, and/or systems engineering and design are preferred. Exceptional applicants in other areas may also be considered.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or in a closely related field. The successful candidate will be required in due course to become a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta. Hiring preference will be given to candidates possessing an excellent record of publication in reputable, peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Consideration will be given to applicants who have demonstrated the impact of their research, who provide evidence of established and respected research and teaching skills, and who have a demonstrated record of service at the departmental, institutional, national, and/or international levels. The successful candidate(s) may be considered for nomination for endowed chairs and professorships and Canada Research Chairs programs.
